The 'V' Word:
Value, Versatile, Vivacious, Volunteer
National volunteering charity TimeBank and VITA have launched a national campaign, The 'V' Word, which aims to challenge perceptions of ageing and to promote volunteering to people over 55.
The campaign launched with a
photography exhibition of older volunteers in the 21st century taken by renowned photographer
Lorentz Gullachsen.
Volunteering has changed with the times - it's more versatile, rewarding and there's a wide range of interesting opportunities available.
Volunteering by older people benefits everyone..
- For charities looking for volunteers who can bring maturity, skills and experience gained from both inside and outside the workplace.
- For individuals who want to keep active, meet new people and use their skills and experience to help in their community.
So don't stop doing what you've always enjoyed - volunteer and feel valued, versatile and vivacious!
